A Philadelphia man is now facing serious charges after allegedly attacking a gym employee with a knife at a Planet Fitness location he was no longer permitted to enter. The violent incident has left the victim in critical condition, struggling for survival.
Davier Massey, aged 28, was taken into custody on Thursday shortly after the incident, which took place at the Planet Fitness situated in the Wyncote area of Cheltenham Township. This information was confirmed by the local police department.
The police quickly responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a male employee who had sustained several stab wounds. The injured man was immediately taken to a trauma center, where his injuries were deemed life-threatening. As of now, there have been no further updates regarding his condition.
Authorities revealed that the stabbing ensued following a confrontation between Massey and the gym employee. Notably, Massey had been banned from the gym prior to the attack, although the reasons for his banishment and the specifics of the dispute remain unclear.

Gym patrons were left in shock by the incident. “I can’t believe this. I feel like I’m in a dream right now,” one visitor shared with FOX29 Philadelphia, encapsulating the disbelief among those who frequent the facility.

Another told the station that “all the employees are nice” and “uplifting.”
“It’s a little shocking for something to happen right here,” he said.

Massey was taken into custody a short distance from the scene and is now facing a long list of charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and possession of an instrument of crime, according to police.

Authorities said bail was denied, and Massey is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
Police have not released a motive for the attack or additional details about what sparked the confrontation at the gym.
