Children eagerly awaited as a shower of candy-filled Easter eggs descended from the skies at a Colorado church’s Helicopter Egg Drop event, now in its second year.
In an impressive display, a helicopter crew generously scattered 6,000 plastic eggs across the grounds of Zeal City Church in Windsor, Colorado, kicking off the Easter morning festivities for the community’s egg hunt.
Later in the day, the helicopter returned to release another batch of vibrant eggs, adding excitement to the subsequent Easter service, as reported by CBS Colorado.
Lead Pastor Jeremy Cleveland expressed to the outlet that this egg drop serves as a distinctive method for “celebrating Jesus at Zeal City Church.”
“We are commemorating Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and our aim was to bless our community by offering more than just a sermon—creating memorable experiences for families and friends,” Cleveland explained.
Cleveland emphasized the event’s tremendous success, pointing out the hundreds of families who gathered to partake in the Sunday celebration.
“The kids are enjoying it, loving it. Parents are having a great time. It’s been awesome,” Cleveland’s wife, Brittany, told the outlet.
The Clevelands hope to carry on the burgeoning tradition for many more years to come.
Another local egg drop in 2024 saw a chopper dump 5,000 eggs over a park in Colorado Springs, Fox 21 reported.
The Compass Church in Salinas, California, also hosted its own drop where a helicopter poured 100,000 eggs over the grounds.
