In a troubling incident from Texas, a man is accused of neglecting a toddler who suffered severe burns from scalding water after being left unattended in a bathtub. Despite the child’s injuries, he reportedly avoided seeking medical help, fearing legal repercussions, according to police reports.

The man, identified as 36-year-old Bobby Fisher, faces charges of injuring a child stemming from the event that occurred in November 2025. His arrest took place this week in McLennan County, as reported by the local CBS station KWTX.

Waco law enforcement detained Fisher on Wednesday following an investigation which concluded that he neither brought the child to a hospital nor informed her mother about the incident for a period of four days.

According to Fisher’s arrest warrant, cited by KWTX, police noted the child’s skin was peeling off onto a washcloth. Fisher allegedly admitted to a detective that he considered taking her to the hospital but refrained due to fear of getting into trouble for the burns.

Police first engaged with Fisher on December 22, after the child mentioned to another child in the home that her buttocks were in pain. This child then informed their mother, who discovered “bloody and pink” wounds, leading her to seek medical attention for the injured toddler.

Medical evaluations revealed the child had suffered third-degree burns with substantial skin loss, according to KWTX. When questioned, the child reportedly told investigators that “Mr. Fisher hurt her butt in the bathroom,” as detailed in the arrest warrant.

Fisher allegedly claimed during police interviews that he was grabbing a diaper and the girl turned the hot water on herself. Cops say he admitted to leaving her unsupervised but said the water was not on when he left the bathroom.

When he returned, Fisher said he saw “steam coming from the water … but did not check the water temperature or the [girl],” according to the arrest warrant. Fisher claimed he turned the shower on and began washing the girl, which is when her skin began “falling off,” the warrant says.

Fisher was allegedly living with the victim’s mother at the time of the incident. He was being held Wednesday on a $10,000 bond.
