A Queensland man has been charged after he allegedly stole $1.1 million worth of diesel fuel over a 12-month period.

Authorities are accusing a 48-year-old man of misusing stolen fuel cards to illegally obtain diesel from unmanned depots situated in Brisbane and Ipswich. The alleged incidents occurred over a year-long period, spanning from December 2024 to December 2025.

The fuel theft reportedly took place in the suburbs of Parkinson, Bundamba, and Karawatha. The man was apprehended after police carried out a search warrant at a residence in Greenbank, Logan, on March 24. During the search, officers allegedly found evidence linking him to the fuel theft, along with other stolen items and a homemade taser.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including two counts of receiving tainted property, and one count each of fraud exceeding $100,000, breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offense, and unlawful possession of a Category D/H/R weapon.

Police highlighted that these charges serve as a strong reminder of the gravity of fuel theft, irrespective of the quantity involved.

“Theft, whether it’s a single tank of fuel or a large-scale diesel fraud, is a serious crime that can lead to court proceedings,” stated Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson.

”Whether it’s one tank of fuel or a large-scale diesel fraud, stealing is an offence which can land you before the court,” Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson said.

The man appeared before Richlands Magistrates Court on March 25.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in court again on May 15.
