A young man has admitted to inciting racial violence in the immediate aftermath of the Bondi Beach massacre by calling for bashings at a beach that was at the centre of infamous race riots 20 years ago.
Ryder Roy Shaw, 20, used an alias to post two images on TikTok on December 15, 2025, that urged followers to “stand the f— up” and riot at Cronulla Beach the following Saturday.
His inflammatory posts called for violence towards Middle Eastern people more than two decades after the beach became the epicentre of infamous race riots.

Over 100 individuals were taken into custody following the riots on December 11, 2005. These disturbances were sparked by a widely spread text message urging “Aussies” to demonstrate to those of Middle Eastern descent that they were unwelcome.

Shaw mirrored this sentiment in his TikTok posts, mistakenly captioning an image that encouraged Australians to converge in “huge crowds” at the beach for what he called “Middle Eastern Bashing Day.”

“Spread the work! (sic) Wake up Australia,” he wrote.

Using a pseudonym, Shaw initially shared the images but later commented on them through a TikTok account under his real name, which prominently states his animosity towards Islam.

“Let’s make it happen,” he wrote beneath one of his images, further fueling the dangerous rhetoric.

The riots did not eventuate, and Shaw was arrested at his home on the NSW Central Coast on December 21.

Through his lawyer, he pleaded guilty to inciting violence towards a group based on race and based on religion in Gosford Local Court on Thursday.

Since his arrest, Shaw has remained in custody and did not appear in court during the recent hearing.

He is facing a potential sentence of up to two years in prison for each offense when the court reconvenes in May for sentencing.

Shaw’s posts came a day after two gunmen opened fire on a crowd celebrating Hanukkah at Bondi Beach on the evening of December 14, killing 15 people and wounding dozens more.

When asked about the calls for riots, NSW Premier Chris Minns warned that anyone seeking to whip up racial violence or division would be investigated by police.

“There is zero tolerance for it right now,” he said at the time.
