Tragic Shooting at New Jersey Chick-fil-A: 1 Dead, 6 Injured in Shocking Incident

An investigation is currently ongoing in New Jersey following a tragic shooting that claimed one life and left six others injured at a Chick-fil-A restaurant on Saturday.

In the township of Union, New Jersey, a shooting incident unfolded on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to six more at a local Chick-fil-A. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Route 22, according to a statement from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

Upon arrival, Union Police Department officers discovered seven people had been shot. Tragically, one person was declared dead at the scene, while the remaining six victims sustained injuries that, fortunately, were not life-threatening.

Authorities have yet to disclose any details regarding the identities of the deceased or the injured, including their ages or whether they were employees at the establishment.

As of Sunday afternoon, the police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident. However, preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting was not a random act, and officials have assured there is no immediate threat to the public at large.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon, but early investigation suggests the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence, and there is “no immediate ongoing threat to the general public,” the release states.

The prosecutor’s office did, however, urge the community to “remain vigilant.”

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said Sunday on social media: “Our hearts go out to the victim’s loved ones, and we are hoping for the full recovery of those who were injured.”

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Union is located southwest of Newark and directly west of Newark Liberty International Airport.

This story is developing and will be updated as information becomes available.
