Singer D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has been taken into custody under suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl. Her body was tragically found in his vehicle.
The remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez were discovered in a decomposed state, wrapped in a bag in the trunk of a Tesla last year.
The vehicle, seemingly abandoned, was traced back to the 20-year-old musician based in Houston, Texas.
Burke is currently detained without the possibility of bail, according to a brief statement from the Los Angeles police.
Authorities have indicated that investigators plan to present their findings to the District Attorney’s Office for potential charges by Monday.
The alternative pop artist is also under scrutiny by a Los Angeles County grand jury in connection with Hernandez’s death.
Originally a secret, the probe into the teen’s death was revealed in February when Burke’s family filed objections to subpoenas demanding they testify.
The move also revealed that Burke was the probe’s target.
Representatives for Burke have not responded to multiple requests from The Associated Press for comment on the case.
Burke was first linked to Hernandez in September 2025, when her remains were found “severely decomposed” in his Tesla.
He was not initially implicated in her death but several of his scheduled tour dates were cancelled or removed from websites after the discovery.
