Frankie Ratford, a dynamic graphic and interior designer known for her vibrant dopamine décor, is making waves as a contestant on the BBC’s Interior Design Masters 2026. Hailing from the New Forest, Frankie ventured to Australia at 18, where she launched a global career mentoring new designers and established her own company in 2009.
Having journeyed to over 100 countries, Frankie is celebrated for her unique renovation projects around the world. Her love for van life is evident in the 11 vans she has transformed into cozy, efficient homes on wheels, showcasing her flair for innovative design in small spaces.
In 2025, after two decades in graphic design, Frankie shifted her focus to interior and branding projects, both for herself and her clients.
Interior Design Masters 2026
As one of the 10 talented designers on the seventh series of Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, airing on BBC One, Frankie faces the challenge of transforming eight extraordinary spaces, including beach huts and castle hotels. Interior design expert Michelle Ogundehin joins Alan Carr as head judge, with a lineup of guest judges appearing each week to critique the designs.
Frankie decided to join Interior Design Masters to push her boundaries. She confided in the BBC, “I’ve never aspired to be on TV, so this whole experience is quite out of my comfort zone! But the opportunity to design fun spaces with a van, a budget, a painter, and a carpenter at my disposal was irresistible. It’s my dream scenario! So, I applied, went off to hike the Camino De Santiago, and got in!”
Characterizing her design aesthetic as “Colour, Joy, Play,” Frankie is passionate about vibrant color schemes, vehemently opposing white walls. She remarked, “I believe there can never be too much color. I completely disagree with Pantone’s color of the year—white doesn’t count as a color to me! My mission is to craft lively, playful spaces using bold, confident colors. More is more!”
