In a significant bust, five men were apprehended in Orange County, Florida, following the theft of 33 vehicles valued at over $2 million. Astonishingly, each car was left unlocked with the keys inside, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The individuals facing serious charges include D’Mawuko Fugar, 19, from Orlando; Edrick Tyrone Bush, 18, from Hallandale Beach; Damon Damascus Kelson Jr., 19, and Marvin Tyrone Brooks III, 18, both from Fort Lauderdale; and Chadd Arthur Thomason, 34, from Kissimmee. They are all charged with racketeering.

Authorities report that this operation culminated from an extensive investigation lasting nearly 18 months, focusing on a theft ring preying on luxury vehicles across Orange and Seminole counties.

Surveillance footage captured the group testing door handles and entering unlocked cars, sometimes while the owners were alarmingly close by.

The stolen vehicles were high-end models, including BMWs, Range Rovers, G-wagons, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris. One notable theft in Winter Park involved a Land Rover taken from a suburban neighborhood, according to deputies.

Fugar, who drove a gray 2024 Tesla Model 3 registered to a family member, was identified as the primary driver for scouting neighborhoods and shuttling suspects. Cell phone data retrieved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement showed Fugar’s presence at nearly every crime scene mentioned in the report.

One of the highest-profile incidents involved the November 2024 theft of a blue-and-orange 2021 Lamborghini from a Lake Nona neighborhood, which was later recovered by the Rockledge Police Department at a hotel in Brevard County, deputies said.

One of the thefts ended with a chase and crash on Interstate 4 in Seminole County. Investigators used cellphone data to connect all five suspects to the operation, according to the report.

After stealing the vehicles, detectives said the suspects loaded them onto tow trucks and transported them out of state for resale. In some cases, deputies said they also used credit cards found inside the stolen cars.

Overall charges include racketeering, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary of a conveyance.
