Jon Cryer looks downcast after wasting $10K on Eric Swalwell campaign

Jon Cryer might be regretting his $10,000 investment in Eric Swalwell’s unsuccessful run for Governor of California, given the recent controversies surrounding the candidate.

The “Two and a Half Men” actor was seen looking less than thrilled in Hollywood on Thursday, as new allegations emerged against Swalwell, including accusations of sexual assault in both Los Angeles and New York City.

Coincidentally, Thursday also happened to be Cryer’s 61st birthday. However, he appeared to be keeping the celebrations low-key, as he was spotted running errands at CVS and Staples.

Other celebrities who supported Swalwell’s campaign include Robert De Niro, Kathy Griffin, and Jon Hamm, each contributing $10,000. Meanwhile, Bryan Lourd, CEO of Creative Artists Agency, made a larger donation of $12,500.

Kathy Griffin addressed her decision to back Swalwell before the allegations came to light, during her “Talk Your Head Off” podcast.

“We live in a time where it seems only certain candidates, often straight white men, are deemed electable. If Swalwell seemed like the best chance to avoid having the two Republican options win, that’s where I wanted my support,” she explained.
