A dramatic incident captured on video reveals a UK military Land Rover overturning and rolling multiple times after its driver attempted to dodge a car swerving in front of it. The startling event unfolded on a two-lane highway in Northamptonshire.
The military vehicle, towing a trailer, was traveling along the highway when an Audi Q2 abruptly cut in front to make an exit at the last moment. This sudden maneuver forced the Land Rover Defender driver to react swiftly.
In an effort to avoid a collision, the Land Rover driver changed lanes but lost control, causing the vehicle to flip and roll several times before coming to a halt.
Immediately following the crash, another military vehicle arrived on the scene to assist those involved in the accident.
Miraculously, the incident on January 10 did not result in any fatalities. Northamptonshire Police Detective Constable Eleanor Hudson commented on the crash, calling it “completely avoidable.”
The Land Rover’s driver, a 36-year-old, sustained a suspected back fracture, while a 31-year-old male passenger was hospitalized with a “significant” head injury.
The driver of the Audi, Crenguta Aruxandei, 44, pleaded guilty to two careless driving offenses and was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended for 18 months, the UK equivalent of probation.
