A man accused of assaulting a subway passenger while shouting homophobic insults was apprehended after evading capture for three months. His arrest came during an attempt to evade paying a train fare, according to police and insider reports.

The suspect, Yeshayahu Carraway, 41, allegedly attacked a 24-year-old man after trailing him off a northbound L train at Williamsburg’s Lorimer Street station around 5:00 a.m. on January 18, authorities reported.

Brandishing a knife, Carraway reportedly hurled anti-gay slurs while violently hitting the victim on the head and body. After the assault, the assailant fled the scene, officers stated.
