APOPKA, Fla. – This week, a stir was caused online by a group of cows in Apopka, as observers expressed worries over their seemingly undernourished appearance.
Images and videos circulating on social media depicted these cows in a field, sparking a debate among users. Some questioned the adequacy of their care, while others argued whether their condition was out of the ordinary.
“Many people echoed my thoughts, suggesting these cows require better attention and wondering why an investigation hasn’t been launched,” shared Amy-Anna Abruzzo, who grew concerned after encountering the online posts.
The discussion gained traction following a cautionary post from Apopka police, advising the public against feeding the animals or entering the property.
“The announcement frustrated me. While I understand the need to prevent trespassing, it seemed like the actual concerns were being overlooked,” Abruzzo commented.
In response to the growing concern, News 6 reached out to several agencies to gather more information on the matter.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said its Agricultural Crimes Unit has been to the property and determined the cattle were undernourished.
Deputies said they are now working with the owner on a proper feeding plan and are making follow-up visits to ensure the cows are getting the food they need.
Authorities also stressed that people should not try to feed the animals themselves.
Deputies said cows have a sensitive digestive system, and feeding them the wrong food can make them sick.
Apopka police told News 6 they have no comment and will not be providing interviews.
