On Friday, New South Wales Police officers, equipped for high-risk operations, arrested several individuals following coordinated raids in Leppington, Spring Farm, Lurnea, and Long Bay. The arrests relate to a series of alleged criminal activities, including multiple attempts to assassinate a prominent organized crime leader.
The investigation traces back to an incident in September of last year when law enforcement intercepted a BMW reportedly sporting cloned license plates on Columbine Avenue, Bankstown. A police pursuit ensued as the vehicle failed to comply with orders to stop. However, the chase was called off at Padstow due to safety concerns.
Authorities claim that during the pursuit, a firearm was discarded from the BMW onto Fairford Road. Approximately 40 minutes later, the same vehicle was discovered abandoned in Revesby. Police have since alleged that the car was involved in a mission to target 29-year-old Ayman Tamer, marking one of at least two attempts on his life.
When the car didn’t stop, a pursuit was sparked before it was stopped for safety reasons at Padstow.Â
Police allege a gun was then thrown out of the car window onto Fairford Road and about 40 minutes later, the same BMW was found dumped at Revesby.
Police now allege that car was on a mission to kill 29-year-old Ayman Tamer, in one of at least two attempted hits.Â
“The intended target is a well-known organised crime entity,” NSW Police detective superintendent Jason Box said.
Chris Emmanuel Faigafa, 26, Osman Sabsabi, 21, and Robin Faumuina were among the males arrested, with two of them – Faigafa and Faumuina – charged for conspiring to kill.Â
The youngest alleged accomplice is 17 years old.
The court today heard 21-year-old boxer Faumiuna was supposed to be the shooter on the hit in September but he slept in.Â
9News understands Tamer is an alleged independent operator in the organised crime world, which means he’s not directly linked to one group in particular.
This has made it difficult for police to determine the senior crime figures who might have orchestrated the alleged foiled hits on his life.
