An early Sunday morning shooting near Indiana University’s Bloomington campus left nine individuals injured.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Kirkwood Avenue, a popular area known for its lively crowd, as celebrations for the renowned “Little 500” college cycling race were underway, according to WTHR.
Authorities arrived at the 400 block of East Kirkwood, just a short distance from the university, and discovered several injured people at the scene.

By 3 a.m., nine victims had been transported to nearby hospitals, with six of them requiring ambulance services, as reported by the news outlet.
Officials have not provided any updates on the victims’ conditions or the nature of their injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that the shooting followed a confrontation between two women.
“Two women fighting… I didn’t think too much of it,” a witness told the outlet.
“I figured the police would get to it. But then I saw a girl reach toward her pants leg and start firing. By then, I was already running the other way.”
Sunday’s shooting comes exactly a week after another mass shooting near the University of Iowa, another Midwest Big10 school.
Five people were wounded included three Iowa students in last weeks shooting.
