Man arrested after firing gun at Statesboro apartment complex

STATESBORO, Ga. — A local man from Statesboro has been arrested following a shooting incident at an apartment complex.

The event unfolded early Sunday morning at the Caribe Court apartments. Upon arrival, Statesboro Police officers found 22-year-old Hunter Quinton actively firing his weapon, which led to the evacuation of nearby residents for their safety.

A police negotiator attempted to resolve the situation peacefully by speaking with Quinton over the phone. Despite these efforts, the Statesboro Police SWAT team resorted to deploying chemical agents in an attempt to coax him out of the apartment, but this strategy did not succeed.

Eventually, authorities entered the residence and apprehended Quinton. He now faces serious charges, including first-degree criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.

No injuries have been reported, and officials have not disclosed what may have motivated Quinton to open fire.
