Authorities in Sydney are actively searching for two young boys who were spotted riding on top of a bus traveling through the city’s eastern areas.

Video footage captured around 11:40 am yesterday reveals the teenagers lying atop the roof of the 356 bus, which was en route from Eastgardens to Bondi Junction.

In the video, the duo is seen positioned near the bus’s rooftop emergency exit hatch.

The bus driver halted the vehicle at Queens Park, prompting the teens to swiftly disembark.

The act of riding on a bus roof, often referred to as ‘bus surfing,’ is both illegal and dangerous, having gained notoriety through social media platforms.

Transport officials have criticized the pair’s reckless behavior and are committed to eradicating this hazardous trend.

“There’s nothing harmless about this type of behaviour. It endangers lives and disrupts the safety of our transport network,” said Transport for NSW coordinator-general Howard Collins.

“We’re committed to working closely with police to put a stop to it.

“Too often, it’s young people getting caught up in this, and they’re putting themselves and others at serious risk.”

Collins also warned ‘bus surfers’ they risk serious injury or death by striking overhead wires or other infrastructure, such as bridges,

“This could be the last decision you ever make.”
