Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer greeted King Charles III at Capitol Hill on Tuesday, sporting a conspicuous bandage that covered a significant portion of his forehead.
The New York Democrat first appeared with the bandage, along with a minor scrape beneath it, on the Senate floor on Monday.
Schumer explained that he sustained the injury during a late-night mishap involving an open door.

“I walked into a closet door that was left open late at night,” Schumer (D-NY) shared with reporters.
Despite the mishap, the senator seemed unfazed by the incident.
Before the King delivered his speech, Schumer expressed it was a “great honor” to host “his majesty” at the US Capitol Building.
“It has been thirty-five years since a British monarch addressed the elected representatives of the American people — the world has changed dramatically, but in many ways, the same tests remain before us,” the Democratic leader said.
“The visit of King Charles III should serve as a reminder to the President of the United States and to every elected official in this country: friends and allies matter,” he added.
Schumer, 75, has had a few minor health incidents over the past decade.
He was briefly hospitalized last year and treated for dehydration after becoming lightheaded while working out on a stationary bike in the Senate gym.
The senator was also diagnosed with pneumonia in 2016 and tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022, dealing with minor symptoms at the time.
