In a recent court hearing, Rebel Wilson surprisingly stated that she cannot recall being involved in a defamation lawsuit from 2016. This revelation came during a cross-examination led by Sue Chrysanthou SC, the attorney for Charlotte MacInnes.
Back in 2016, Wilson had found herself in legal hot water over a social media outburst aimed at freelance journalist Elizabeth Wilson. The actress had launched a tirade on Twitter, accusing the journalist of harassing her grandmother. She wrote, “If your name is Elizabeth Wilson and you work for ACP Magazines, just know that you are a disgrace for harassing my sweet, sick grandma.” Wilson further compounded the issue by posting a picture of a different Elizabeth Wilson employed at the same company.
The defamation case, which lasted for a year, concluded with Rebel Wilson settling the matter for $120,000. Despite the case’s duration and its financial implications, Wilson appeared to have no recollection of these events when questioned by Ms. Chrysanthou in court on Wednesday.
