The whirlwind of initial free agency and the spectacle of the 2026 NFL Draft have faded into the rearview mirror.
As teams usher their new recruits into the professional arena, they continue to seek enhancements around the edges. It’s no surprise that not every team need was addressed in the spring frenzy, but there’s a strategic benefit to signing free agents post-draft: these signings don’t impact the NFL’s compensatory picks formula. This often leads to a modest increase in activity following the draft, though it’s expected that signings will proceed gradually into the summer months. Veterans still without teams may soon find themselves on new rosters as training camps approach or even once they are underway.
While all of the top 33 athletes from Pete Prisco’s renowned free agent list have found teams, a wealth of skillful players remains available as the NFL drifts into its traditionally quieter period. Recently, the Ravens and the Giants have bolstered their defensive lines by adding Calais Campbell (ranked No. 63 by Prisco) and D.J. Reader (No. 97), respectively, as part of their post-draft strategies.
