On Wednesday morning, news emerged that the FBI had executed a search at the Portsmouth office of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore Louise Lucas (D). However, the typically outspoken 82-year-old, known for her frequent and candid Twitter activity, maintained an unusual silence on her social media channels.
Throughout the day, as more details surfaced—including reports of additional search locations, such as a cannabis shop she co-owns—Lucas remained uncharacteristically quiet. This was the same individual who, in March 2023, had tweeted with gusto about Donald Trump’s indictment by a Manhattan grand jury, declaring that “Donald Trump just learned no one is above the law!”
Not until Wednesday evening did Lucas, a central figure in the Virginia redistricting controversy, issue an official statement. What stood out in her message was not just its content, but notably, the significant omissions it contained.
