CHICAGO (WLS) — On Friday morning, a gathering of family, friends, and colleagues came together to bid a heartfelt farewell to Officer John Bartholomew.
He is cherished and remembered as a devoted father, loving husband, cherished son, supportive brother, and dedicated officer.

The ceremony at Saint Andrews Greek Orthodox Church saw a convergence of family members, close friends, elected officials, and community supporters.
Among those present were Mayor Johnson and CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling, who paid their respects.
A line of Chicago Police officers stood in solemn tribute outside the church.
Officer Bartholomew, a dedicated member of the force for a decade, tragically lost his life in the line of duty on April 25.
He and his partner were shot while they escorted a robbery suspect at Swedish hospital.
Officer Bartholomew’s longtime partner Officer Nelson Crespo was critically injured and is still recovering.
Bartholomew is describes as a deeply dedicated officer who served with honor and integrity, and always put his family first.
The procession to the cemetery will travel south on Lake Shore Drive. Heavy traffic and street closures are expected until 3 p.m.
