Two 'dangerous' inmates escape Kentucky detention center, sparking multi-agency manhunt across region

On Friday evening, two inmates deemed “dangerous” made a daring escape from a detention facility in Kentucky, triggering an extensive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, according to police reports.

The Morehead Police Department alerted the local residents that the individuals had managed to “walk away” from the Rowan County Detention Center, raising concerns about public safety.

Authorities confirmed that several law enforcement bodies are collaborating in the search operation, with the Kentucky State Police taking the helm of the investigation.

Officials have advised the public to consider these fugitives as dangerous and have urged people to avoid approaching anyone who appears suspicious or unfamiliar in the area.

He has short or closely shaved hair and a short beard along his jawline and chin, according to police.

The second inmate was identified as James Smallwood, 52, who is listed at 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 215 pounds.
