Cabramatta pedestrian crash
A driver has been charged after an 81-year old man walking on a pavement was killed in Sydney’s south-west.

Yesterday afternoon, emergency services rushed to Hughes Street near Cabramatta Station following reports of an MG ZS SUV that had swerved off the road, striking a pedestrian on the sidewalk.

Paramedics from NSW Ambulance attended to the 81-year-old pedestrian at the scene, but sadly, he did not survive.

Traffic diversions are in place, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The SUV’s driver, a 51-year-old man, emerged uninjured from the incident and was subsequently transported to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

Following the tests, the driver was taken to Cabramatta Police Station and charged with negligent driving causing death.

He was released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Liverpool Local Court on June 3.
