Fire breaks out in downtown LA, 100 firefighters at the scene

In the early hours of Sunday, a significant fire erupted in downtown Los Angeles, prompting a swift response from over 100 firefighters who rushed to contain the blaze.

The incident unfolded at 4:20 a.m. on the 1200 block of South Hope Street, as reported by the California Post. The Los Angeles Police Department joined emergency responders at the scene, ensuring public safety and managing the situation.

The fire engulfed a two-story commercial building, complete with a mezzanine, leading authorities to order an immediate evacuation of all individuals from the premises. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported the presence of intense flames emerging from the roof and thick, pressurized smoke billowing from the building’s roll-up doors.

With approximately 124 officers deployed, the LAPD assisted in controlling traffic around the affected area, as firefighters shifted their strategy from an offensive to a defensive approach in battling the inferno.

The severity of the fire necessitated the evacuation of at least two nearby high-rise apartment buildings, as preliminary reports indicated the potential risk to residents from the smoke and flames.
