Darren Steele serves as a judge for the Martin County Court in Florida, a role he has held since being appointed by Governor Charlie Crist in May 2009. This appointment followed the passing of Judge David Harper. Steele secured his position through re-election without opposition in November 2010.
Prior to his judicial appointment, Steele practiced law at Watson & Steele Law Office from 2000 until 2009, after an earlier tenure at Crary, Buchanan Law Office from 1998 to 2000. His legal career began in public service as a public defender in the 19th Judicial Circuit, where he worked from 1994 to 1998.
Steele’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law. Additionally, he has earned a summer certificate in Comparative Law from both the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Guanajuato in Mexico.
