Authorities suspect that a body discovered in a park in the western area of Melbourne may be linked to a suspected kidnapping that occurred just hours earlier.
During the early hours of the morning, around 3 a.m., several male suspects arrived at a residence on Darius Terrace in South Morang, driving a dark-colored vehicle.
According to police reports, the intruders forcibly entered the home, wielding machetes. They attacked a 30-year-old man who was asleep, forcibly removing him from the house and taking him away in their vehicle before escaping the scene.
Inside the home at the time of the incident were another man and two children, who fortunately were not harmed during the ordeal.
Shortly afterward, emergency services responded to a call at 4:30 a.m. about a deceased man found in a park near Bruni Drive in Tarneit.
The identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed, but investigators suspect he is the individual involved in the South Morang kidnapping case.
A postmortem is set to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police are yet to make any arrests, and investigations are ongoing.
