The simmering discord between President Donald Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom reignited on Sunday, fueled by a new volley of social media exchanges that included an image portraying Newsom as a zombie.
Trump drew attention when he shared a mock-up of a California license plate labeled “NEW-SCM,” featuring a caricature of Newsom in a zombie-like appearance. This post quickly gained traction, accumulating over 135,000 views after Newsom’s press office reposted it with the retort, “Even a Zombie Newscum still looks healthier than our current President. #PrayersforGrandpa.”
The President’s taunt was a reaction to an earlier jab from Newsom’s team. Earlier that day, the Governor’s press office circulated an image showing Trump surrounded by security personnel and an alien-like figure in chains, accompanied by the caption, “The President of the United States just posted this. Do you think he’s lost it?”
These digital digs are the most recent chapter in the ongoing verbal skirmish between these two influential political figures. Their exchanges continue to capture public attention, further highlighting the stark political divide and personal animosity that characterize their relationship.
âThe President of the United States just posted this. Do you think heâs lost it?â the caption read.
The escalating online spat is just the latest in a long-running war of words between the two political heavyweights.
Back in January, Trump blasted Newsom as a âLame Duckâ making a âmockery of himselfâ on the world stage during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump accused Newsom of prioritizing international attention while California continued to battle crime, drought, and wildfire devastation.
âHe should finish his monstrously âover budget and behind scheduleâ Railroad, from San Francisco to L.A., one of the Greatest Public Disasters in History, and focus on stopping Crime in the streets of California Cities â Then finish out his term, and GO HOME!â Trump wrote at the time.
The White House also previously told The California Post that Newsom should âstop undermining the United States on the world stageâ and focus on fixing his âbrokenâ home state.
Newsom, meanwhile, has continued firing back, with his press office calling Trump a âderanged, habitual liarâ and mocking his âlittle fingersâ after the president launched a fraud investigation into California.
As both men continue trading increasingly personal attacks, their bitter political rivalry shows no signs of cooling down â especially with Newsom’s eyes on a run at The White House.
