Ted Cruz says the quiet part out loud as LA voters tilt toward Spencer Pratt for mayor

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas has attributed Spencer Pratt’s surge in the Los Angeles mayoral race to Mayor Karen Bass’s “devastating” policies. Cruz believes these policies have even led some Democrats in the traditionally blue city to support the former reality TV star.

In a conversation with TMZ, Cruz remarked, “No matter how liberal you are, you might support high tax rates, but you still don’t want your children threatened or to navigate through human waste on your way to work. Ultimately, Karen Bass’s policies have not succeeded.”

Pratt’s campaign videos have also played a critical role in his rising popularity, according to Cruz.

“These videos have gone viral for a reason—they highlight the harsh reality that Karen Bass’s policies have severely impacted Los Angeles,” Cruz stated, adding that he finds the videos “fantastic” and eagerly anticipates them.

One of Pratt’s most viewed clips, “They not like us,” released in April, criticized Bass and LA City Councilwoman Nithya Raman for residing in multimillion-dollar homes, garnering millions of views on social media.

Pratt’s latest video subtly addressed a TMZ report, clarifying that he was staying in a hotel in Bel Air rather than an Airstream trailer after his home was destroyed in the Palisades fire.

“Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down,” he captioned the video, set to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme music. The video shows the rubble of his former home, and blames Bass and other LA politicians for the Palisades fire.

Cruz also weighed in on whether an endorsement from President Donald Trump would help Pratt in the deep-blue city.

“I have no idea,” the senator said, later noting that crime and homelessness are not “left-right” issues.

A recent poll showed Bass in the lead with 35% support in the mayor’s race, with Raman and Pratt tied at 23%.
