A teacher in south-western Sydney has been charged by police with alleged offenses related to child grooming and possession of child abuse material.
The 35-year-old man was taken into custody after detectives conducted a raid on a Bardia residence early yesterday morning. The raid followed the identification of child abuse material linked to an internet account holder.
During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated electronic devices believed to contain child abuse content.
Authorities also reportedly discovered online communications between the man and a teenage girl, which took place over a period from 2021 to last year.
Subsequently, the individual was formally charged with several offenses, including the possession of child abuse material and inducing a child aged 14 or older to create such material.
The man was denied bail and is expected to appear in court today.
Investigations are ongoing.
The arrest was part of Strike Force Trawler, an investigation into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related devices.
