'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu': Behind the scenes of the new movie with Pedro Pascal, Jon Favreau and Sigourney Weaver

LOS ANGELES — The “Star Wars” saga triumphantly returns to theaters with a thrilling new chapter, “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.” To mark this occasion, “On The Red Carpet” has produced a special episode filmed directly on the set, offering fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of this highly anticipated movie.

This film represents the first cinematic release from the legendary franchise since 2019, and we delve into its creation with insights from the talented filmmakers and the star-studded cast.

Pedro Pascal, who portrays the enigmatic Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, shared his heartfelt connection to the series: “My earliest memories of going to the movies as a kid are Star Wars. Scoring tickets to ‘Return of the Jedi’ was an unforgettable day for me.”

Currently captivating audiences in cinemas worldwide, “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” is set several years after the events of “Return of the Jedi.” The galaxy remains in turmoil, with Imperial warlords scattered and a burgeoning New Republic in need of assistance from Din Djarin and his gifted apprentice.

The duo embarks on their most audacious mission yet, with support from familiar allies and confrontations with perilous adversaries. New characters add to the excitement, including Sigourney Weaver’s debut in the “Star Wars” universe as Colonel Ward, a skilled New Republic officer and pilot.

“Colonel Ward grew up with the rebellion,” Weaver explained to On The Red Carpet. “She would have been a fellow rebel alongside Princess Leia, representing that generation. It was a wonderful experience to bring Colonel Ward to life, especially considering the strong female presence in ‘Star Wars.'”

Jon Favreau, who created the Disney+ series, “The Mandalorian,” is the director of the new movie. Favreau loved watching the original “Star Wars” movies from George Lucas when he was a kid and hopes his version is true to the spirit of those earlier works.

“The stakes are high, but the characters are heroic, pure of heart, and I think that it fits the same mythic structure,” Favreau said. “Of course, George set the bar really high, but we could tell stories that at least honor that world that he created.”

Our new special also includes a tour of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” set and a look inside a “Star Wars” warehouse filled with incredible props from the film series. You’ll also see all the excitement of the world premiere in Hollywood, a quick recap of “The Mandalorian” series on Disney+, and a closer look at the “Baby Yoda Boom” – from toys to parades and even a trip to space, Grogu has done it all!

“Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” is now playing in theaters everywhere.
