One of Australia’s prominent retailers specializing in NBA jerseys, NFL gear, and sneaker apparel has opted for voluntary administration, putting 31 of its stores under scrutiny.
Stateside Sports continues its operations amid uncertainty regarding the future of its nationwide store presence and online activities.
The advisory firm DVT Mcleods has been tasked with managing the situation, appointing partners Antony Resnick and Henry Kwok as voluntary administrators as of May 22.
Resnick noted that the company has struggled with reduced discretionary spending, rising inflation, and stiff competition from international retailers.
“Retail in Australia is not for the faint-hearted, and even for a niche player like Stateside Sports, which caters to a youth-oriented market, the current business climate is challenging,” Resnick explained.
Despite these challenges, Resnick believes that Stateside Sports remains an appealing prospect for potential buyers due to its strong national brand presence and robust e-commerce setup.
DVT Mcleods was formed in July 2025 through the merger of DVT Group and Mcleods, combining operations across New South Wales and Queensland.
