Cuomo rips fellow Dems for putting up 'incapable' Joe Biden in 2024

Former Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo criticized the Democratic Party on Sunday for pushing a physically and mentally unfit then-President Joe Biden to seek re-election, only to replace him with Kamala Harris, whom he described as a disastrous choice.

Cuomo joined the growing chorus of voices condemning party leadership following the emergence of an internal review detailing the Democrats’ struggles during the 2024 election cycle.

“It was clear to anyone who watched the debates that Biden was not equipped for the role,” Cuomo stated on WABC radio’s “The Pulse of the People” show. “No expertise in psychiatry or medicine was needed to see that.”

“Where was the Democratic Party, his chief of staff, or his strategists?” questioned the former New York governor. “The reality was Biden was not prepared for another four-year term.”

Cuomo’s remarks come in the wake of a contentious draft report commissioned by the Democratic National Committee, which was unveiled last week. The report criticized Biden’s team for not uniting the party quickly enough around then-Vice President Harris as a candidate.

The draft, authored by former Bill Clinton adviser Paul Rivera, notably omitted any reference to Biden’s apparent decline in mental and physical health.

It also failed to address Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz being picked as Harris’s eventual running mate or the shift in the party when it came to Israel after the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre.

Rivera did knock the Biden team for not conducting polling before having him drop out and not doing enough to counter Harris’s ineffective resume as “border czar.”

Cuomo ripped the report as “disingenuous.”

But he also added that “it really cast doubt on the Democratic establishment — and rightfully so,” while calling out Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other Democratic lawmakers and politicians who met wth Biden during his obvious decline and said nothing.

Cuomo, a recent failed mayoral candidate, suggested that party leaders covered up for Biden, pointing out how they kept saying publicly that Biden was “full of energy” and doing “push-ups” and “jumping jacks.”

“Come on, you fooled nobody,” the former gov said.

He did agree with Rivera about Harris failing miserably as Biden’s “border czar.

“The border policy was terrible,” Cuomo said.

When Harris took Biden’s place at the top of the ticket, Americans only really knew about her border issues, he said.

“What’s the federal government plan? There was none. That’s not addressed. What did the Biden-Harris administration do for the country? That’s what it’s about. … [Americans]  want results. That’s what they didn’t get,” Cuomo said.
