Hasan Piker looks shaken on stream as feds probe Cuba trip, Rep. Jasmine Crockett piles on

WASHINGTON — Prominent far-left streamer Hasan Piker finds himself unsettled as a federal investigation scrutinizes his March trip to Cuba for potential violations of U.S. sanctions.

“This is not great,” Piker candidly shared with his audience on Sunday regarding the investigation. “I mean, it’s bull—, but it’s still not great that they’re targeting me. They’re really on my case.”

The 34-year-old continued humorously, responding to a viewer’s comment with, “Yeah, free me. Free me. I can’t believe I’m actually saying that. But it seems like they’re trying to make me an example.”

Over the weekend, Fox News revealed that federal authorities have subpoenaed both Piker and Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CodePink, related to their visit to the Communist island just 90 miles from Florida’s shores.

Adding to Piker’s challenges, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), known for her left-wing views, shared a video mocking Piker for his reluctance to support former Vice President Kamala Harris in a potential 2024 run.

In the video, Threads user TalkUrShxxtNene teased Piker, saying, “I mean, Kamala would have never,” prompting Crockett to respond with side-eye emojis. The video concluded with, “That’s what you get for encouraging people to vote third party or not vote at all.”

Piker and Benjamin were two of more than three dozen individuals under investigation by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

The subpoenas for communications and other relevant documents came in response to an online rumor that Piker and his comrades stayed at a US-sanctioned hotel in Havana. Participants in the trip have denied that rumor.

The Treasury Department declined to comment when asked by The Post about the investigation.

The Treasury’s Cuban Assets Control Regulations place tight restrictions on dealings with Cuba, particularly regarding certain hotels and other businesses that have direct ties to the government.

There are carveouts for humanitarian initiatives, as well as journalism, education, and similar ventures.

Piker was among hundreds of lefties who joined the “Nuestra America Convoy,” featuring socialists from Europe and North America, who traveled to Cuba under the pretense of distributing humanitarian aid.

That trip was a response to President Trump’s aggressive pressure campaign against Havana, which is undergoing an energy crisis following the January apprehension of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

“The Trump administration is investigating people for bringing medicine to Cuban children while defending policies that deprive those same children of food, fuel, and basic medical supplies,” Benjamin raged on X Sunday. “If loving the Cuban people is a crime, then millions around the world are guilty too.”

Piker, a nephew of “Young Turks” host Cenk Uygur, has a history of inflammatory and hateful rhetoric.

Infamously, he declared in 2019 that “America deserved 9/11″ and later claimed the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack was a “direct consequence” of Israeli actions, adding that even if the terror group engaged in rape, it “doesn’t change the dynamic for me.”

Piker has also gushed over the “brave mujahideen” that injured Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) during his military service in Afghanistan — and even suggested that Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) should die.
