Tree falls on woman in NYC during Memorial Day storm: cops

In the Bronx, a fallen tree struck a woman and caused damage to several vehicles on Memorial Day, according to police reports.

The incident occurred amid a period of heavy rainfall, impacting a 49-year-old woman who was walking near East 176th Street and Clay Avenue in Mount Hope around 1:30 p.m., law enforcement stated.

The woman sustained various injuries, including a head laceration and multiple fractures to her right arm and leg.

Emergency services responded promptly after a 911 call, transporting her to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition by Monday evening.

Authorities noted that the tree was heavily waterlogged, which contributed to its collapse, also resulting in damage to several parked cars.

Memorial Day was marked by approximately 2 inches of rainfall in the city, capping off a three-day spell of intermittent showers.
