Trump's allies say fired Pam Bondi will STILL have to testify on Epstein 'cover-up' - and float potential replacements

Supporters and critics of Donald Trump continue to hold Pam Bondi accountable, accusing her of concealing the Epstein Files, despite the President’s recent dismissal of his embattled attorney general.

South Carolina Republican and prominent MAGA advocate, Representative Nancy Mace, criticized the outgoing Cabinet member following Trump’s forceful dismissal.

For now, Trump has appointed Todd Blanche, the deputy, as the interim replacement while he contemplates a permanent successor.

Among the candidates being considered is former Representative Lee Zeldin, who currently holds the position of EPA administrator.

Mace harshly criticized Bondi for her mishandling of the Epstein Files, claiming it significantly weakened Trump’s position.

She expressed her approval of Zeldin as a potential candidate for the role.

Thomas Massie, a Republican who became a thorn in Trump’s side as he pushed for the release of the Epstein Files, rejoiced over Bondi’s ousting noting on X, ‘I support Trump firing Pam Bondi.’

‘I hope the next AG will release all the Epstein files according to the law and follow up with investigations, prosecutions, and arrests,’ Massie added.

Bondi has faced fury from across the political spectrum over her botched release of the Epstein files earlier this year, including leaving victims’ names unredacted while keeping secret the names of alleged abusers.

The former AG was scheduled to be deposed by the US House Oversight Committee on April 14th after the two-week Easter recess, an appearance that Democrat ranking member Robert Garcia is convinced still has to happen.

‘Pam Bondi and Donald Trump may think her firing gets her out of testifying to the Oversight Committee,’ Garcia noted in an X post, before adding ‘They are wrong – and we look forward to hearing from her under oath.’

In a Thursday statement, Garcia added that Bondi ‘must answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files and the special treatment she has given Ghislaine Maxwell,’ and he later added that the subpoena is for ‘Bondi, whether she is the Attorney General or not.’

Mace also believes that the subpoena still stands, because ‘when the Oversight Committee moved to subpoena Bondi,’ it was done ‘by name, not by or not as the sitting Attorney General of the U.S.’

In a statement to the Daily Mail, the House Oversight Committee’s GOP  spokeswoman noted, ‘Since Pam Bondi is no longer Attorney General, Chairman Comer will speak with Republican members and the Department of Justice about the status of the deposition subpoena and confer on next steps.’

Ted Lieu, a House Democrat from California, jabbed at Bondi, adding that she ‘would be wonderful at the super prestigious position you can create called the ‘Very Special Attorney General for the Shield of the Americas.”‘

Trump fired Bondi as his attorney general after she desperately pleaded for her job in a late-night White House showdown.

Bondi becomes the second Cabinet casualty in less than a month – brought down by months of MAGA fury over her botched handling of the Jeffrey Epstein Files, a saga that has dogged Trump’s Justice Department since Day One.

‘Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.

‘Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,’ Trump also added in his Truth Social post.

‘We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future,’ Trump concluded.

Trump said that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will serve as acting attorney general until a permanent nominee is picked.
