In a deeply disturbing turn of events in Arizona, a mother fatally shot her two children before taking her own life, following an earlier incident where she shot another woman at a local bar. Authorities confirmed these tragic details.
According to police reports shared with AZFamily, Andrea Clarice Davis, 38, arrived at Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill in Glendale shortly after midnight on Monday. There, she fired shots at her husband, Nolan Davis, 39, and a 36-year-old woman accompanying him outside the establishment.
The unidentified woman suffered a gunshot wound to the back of her head while attempting to escape by getting into her car, Glendale Police spokesperson Jose Santiago reported.
Following the bar shooting, Andrea Davis returned home and sent her husband a chilling message. She threatened harm to their two children and included a horrific image depicting one of their children bleeding from the head, according to police accounts.
Nolan Davis, who was still at the bar scene with police officers, informed them of the alarming texts. This prompted a swift response from officers, who rushed to the family’s home in Phoenix, located approximately two miles from the bar.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the tragic scene: the lifeless bodies of Andrea Davis and her children, 10-year-old Austin and 18-month-old Andolan.
“Because we already knew this was a dire situation, officers forced their way into the home, and that’s when they encountered this horrific situation, Santiago said.
Deputies are still trying to piece together the full picture of Monday’s shocking events.
The second woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.
Police did not divulge her exact relationship with the killer’s husband.
“Right now, we can tell you they knew each other, but we do not know the extent of how they knew each other; that’s all part of the investigation,” Santiago said.
“We do know that they were familiar with one another, and there was some type of relationship. How familiar and what type of relationship, that’s unknown at this time.”
However, the mom had been tormented by the belief her husband had been cheating on her with a coworker, according to Andrea’s best friend, Amy Bowers.
“This relationship … completely made her lose her mind,” Bowers told AZFamily.
“They haven’t had anything like this come up before. And so I think the shock of that is just a lot for her. She was just, she was not feeling good. And she’s been asking for help from everybody. Like it’s not been secret,” she added.
“I feel really bad nobody was thinking about the kids this whole time, you know, Andrea was stressed because Nolan was talking about leaving, and she was like, ‘What am I supposed to do with the kids?’” Bowers said.
The bar shooting is being investigated by Glendale Police, and the murder-suicide by Phoenix police.
Neither department had prior involvement with the couple, who had no history of domestic violence, the reports said.
