Hilaria Baldwin has candidly reflected on her marriage to Alec Baldwin, acknowledging that, at first glance, their union seemed ‘ridiculous’ to many. In the early days, some even likened their relationship to a parody skit from “Saturday Night Live.”
Despite the initial skepticism, the 42-year-old yoga instructor believes that their seemingly unlikely romance has thrived due to their ability to embrace their differences and maintain a commitment to each other through regular date nights, all while managing the demands of raising seven children.
“Imagine a 27-year-old yoga teacher marrying a wealthy, famous older man—it sounds absurd, like a scene from a bad SNL sketch,” Hilaria shared with the Daily Mail, reflecting on her relationship with the Hollywood actor, who is now 68.
Fortunately, their relationship has flourished. “We’re always joking around within our family,” she added. “People might assume Alec wanted someone he could control, but we’re very much equals.”
During an event celebrating her appearance on the cover of Spotlight magazine at New York City’s One Art Space gallery, the former “Dancing With The Stars” contestant discussed how she and Alec keep their marriage strong, even amidst their hectic family life.
“Date nights are important for us,” Hilaria emphasized. “Even though work has had us traveling a lot recently, we make it a priority to spend quality time together.”
And according to Hilaria, their evenings together are surprisingly low-key.

‘That usually involves dinner. He loves a good dinner, we either go out or I cook and we usually end up chatting and catching each other up on our seven kids and our projects,’ she shared.
‘We just let each other be, and I think that’s one of the reasons our relationship has gone on as long as it has, because we are polar opposites and so different.’
The mom of seven also reflected on the highs and lows the couple have weathered throughout their marriage.
‘There’s been so much chaos in our lives, so much of it wonderful, some horrible things but we’ve managed to figure it out,’ she said.
The pair have long been candid about the impact their significant age gap has had on their relationship, with Hilaria recently revealing that she and Alec even sought therapy to help navigate it.
Alec, meanwhile, was equally glowing about his wife, insisting he knew she was ‘the one’ from the moment they met.
‘I think anybody can see that. She’s a very special person, she really is,’ the actor gushed to the Daily Mail.
‘When I met her, she was unknown; she wasn’t a famous person. She was a hard worker and I really admired that. She’s beautiful beyond measure, inside and out.’
The It’s Complicated actor also praised Hilaria’s latest magazine cover, saying her success comes as no surprise to him (Pictured: Alec and Hilaria Baldwin with co-owner of One Art Space MaryAnn Giella McCulloh)

‘My wife’s success doesn’t surprise me, because she’s a very hard worker,’ he explained. ‘And this business is tough now, in terms of breaking in and staying there.’
Despite his decades-long career in Tinseltown, Alec admitted these days he would rather spend time at home with his family than chase more work projects.
‘For me, I don’t want to leave my home anymore. I want to stay home and do nothing and be with the kids,’ he confessed.
‘I love my kids, I love my family. I love to go to work. But I’m really happy when I’m at home with my family.’

Alec is also dad to Ireland, 30, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger. The pair were married from 1993 to 2002.
Baldwin also became a grandfather in May 2023 after Ireland welcomed her first child, daughter Holland, with André Allen Anjos, also known as RAC. She is currently expecting her second child.

Elsewhere in the interview, Hilaria revealed that Alec – whom she wed in June 2012 – would happily welcome even more children into their already bustling household.
‘Alec would have more children,’ she laughed, before joking about their youngest daughter, Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin. ‘My youngest is so naughty – I named her after me and I’m getting all the karma that comes with it.’
And while the couple’s children have grown up in the spotlight, Hilaria said she would fully support them if they decided to follow their famous parents into showbusiness.
‘I would definitely support my kids to have a future in showbusiness,’ she said. ‘They don’t know anything different and they are curious about it.’
‘As long as they’re happy, I don’t care,’ the doting mom added.
