A newly surfaced video captures a group of individuals emerging from a manhole in Brooklyn, sparking curiosity about their underground activities. These mysterious figures, equipped with headlamps and shovels, were recorded at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Lynch Street in Williamsburg early Friday morning, as reported by Williamsburg 360.
The footage begins with a man, illuminated by his headlamp, pushing aside the manhole cover positioned in the middle of the intersection. He then assists another member of this unapproved team in climbing out, followed closely by another man similarly outfitted with a headlamp, brandishing a shovel.
As more men ascend from Brooklyn’s subterranean depths, the scene intensifies, including a tense moment where one narrowly avoids being hit by a passing car while emerging from the sewer system.
Once the seventh and final individual has surfaced, he meticulously replaces the manhole cover, securing it with a jump, before the group departs together, as captured in the video.
Men with flashlights and shovels continue to pour out from the bowels of Brooklyn – with one nail-biting moment showing a man narrowly being run over by a car while emerging from the sewer, according to the video.
After the seventh and final man crawls out of the manhole, he replaces the cover, jumps on it to put it back in place and then leaves with the other men, video shows.
Cops said the crew removed the sewer lid at the intersection around 1 a.m. on Friday and exited a little less than three hours later.
Another incident of the weirdos entering and exiting a manhole occurred just five miles away in Gravesend at the intersection of McDonald Ave. and Colin Place around 2 a.m. the same day, police said.
Video obtained by The Post of that incident shows a car dropping off seven men loaded with flashlights and unidentifiable equipment near the manhole.
The men then pry off the lid of the hole and make their way one by one into the sewers, while the car that dropped them off blocks them from oncoming traffic, footage shows.
Once all the men were inside, the driver of the vehicle got down, slammed the manhole cover shut and drove away.
Cops said they aren’t sure why either group of men was sneaking into the manholes, or if the incidents were related.
The NYPD said it swept both sewers to ensure their safety. An investigation is ongoing.
