The woman, presumed to be from the UK, ignited outrage as the peculiar footage circulated across social media platforms.

In the clip, the group is seen strolling through Oia, a picturesque village on the island’s northern tip, while singing Bob Marley’s 1977 classic, “Three Little Birds.”

As they pass by local residences, the woman is observed dispensing ashes onto the picturesque cobblestones.

According to reports, fulfilling the deceased’s wish to have their remains scattered on Santorini, a destination increasingly popular due to social media influencers, was the intention behind this act.

But their actions were branded a “health bomb” by a representative of the local Chamber of Commerce.

“You can’t just throw ash everywhere. It’s constantly windy on our island, so all this went everywhere, on passersby, shops and houses. Some limits must finally be set,” the representative told local media.

In Greece, scattering of ashes is only permitted under certain conditions, and only in specially designated memorial areas, in an open space outside residential areas, or in the sea.

So far, there are no details on whether the woman was punished or fined by local authorities.
