The Google Pixel Watch 5 may have been spoiled by… the creator of Borderlands

In a surprising twist, the first glimpse of what might be the Google Pixel Watch 5 has surfaced, courtesy of an unexpected source. Randy Pitchford, renowned for creating the popular Borderlands game franchise, shared intriguing images on X, describing how a friend stumbled upon the watch while scuba diving off the coast of Saint Martin. This story, initially reported by Kotaku, has certainly piqued interest.

Pitchford revealed, “The back of the watch indicates it’s a Google Pixel 5, which hasn’t been officially announced or released yet.” Despite the watch’s face showing a depleted battery, it still managed to display the correct time, suggesting some reserve power remains. After reaching out to locate the watch’s owner, Pitchford reported that someone had come forward, and he has made arrangements for its return. Attempts to contact Google for comment by The Verge have so far gone unanswered.

As Google traditionally unveils its latest Pixel devices in August, tech enthusiasts won’t have to wait long to discover whether this unplanned underwater debut was indeed of a soon-to-be-launched Pixel Watch 5. The wait for confirmation will be just a few months, keeping the tech community on their toes with anticipation.
