In a concerning development in Jacksonville, Florida, a middle school security guard finds himself at the center of serious allegations. Jon Kee, who was stationed at Twin Lakes Academy Middle School, has been accused of inappropriate interactions with a student, leading to his reassignment away from any child-related duties.
Duval County Public Schools confirmed on Monday that Jon Kee, aged 27, was apprehended on May 29. He faces charges of either soliciting or engaging in lewd conduct with a student, which is classified as a second-degree felony. As of Monday, Kee remains behind bars with a bail set at $500,000.
A spokesperson for DCPS commented on the situation, stating, “Following the arrest notification, the individual was promptly reassigned to roles where he would not interact with students. This measure will remain in place as the criminal investigation unfolds and the district conducts its professional standards review. Ensuring the safety and welfare of our students is our utmost concern.”
Details from a report obtained by First Coast News reveal that Kee’s interaction with the student began when she recognized him at a gas station, a place where he was also employed. Kee allegedly offered the student a complimentary slushy and candy, and later proposed giving her marijuana. Authorities discovered through text messages that Kee had engaged in sexual conversations with the student, including explicit discussions about having sex with her.
“Upon receiving notification of the arrest, the individual was immediately reassigned to duties away from our campus and without student contact, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and the district’s professional standards review,” a DCPS spokesperson said. “The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority.”
