In a chilling case from Texas, a man stands accused of fatally shooting his father, subsequently calling 911 to report the death, and then proceeding to use the deceased’s credit cards—all while allegedly concealing his involvement in the crime.
Identified as Justin Blount, the 38-year-old now faces serious charges, including murder and credit or debit card abuse against an elderly person, following the death of his 81-year-old father, James Raymond Blount. Law & Crime has confirmed these details from jail records, noting that Justin was detained in the Montgomery County Jail on Monday.
On the morning of the incident, around 8 a.m., authorities say Justin contacted emergency services to announce the discovery of his father’s body at the elder Blount’s residence on Trails End Road in Conroe, Texas. This city, the administrative center of Montgomery County, is situated approximately 40 miles north of Houston.
Upon arrival, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office found James, affectionately known as “Mr. Jim,” with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was declared dead on site, marking the beginning of an in-depth investigation.
The probe uncovered that Justin Blount had been utilizing his father’s credit cards without permission. As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement gathered evidence suggesting that Justin was not only exploiting his father’s financial means but was also implicated in the murder.
While officials have not detailed the specific evidence linking Justin to the killing, they have indicated that it substantiates the charges against him.
James Blount was remembered by his friends as a passionate horseman, well respected in his community.
“This is truly a remarkable man that we lost,” his friend Linda Young told Houston NBC affiliate KPRC. “Jim was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He would give you the shirt off his back. To have this kind of insanity done to him is just shocking.”
