Toledo police following 'multiple leads' as manhunt enters 3rd day after festival shooting

The hunt for the shooters responsible for injuring a dozen people near Toledo’s street festival continued into its third day without any arrests by Monday. Investigators have stated that they are actively following “multiple leads” in their search.

In a brief update shared on social media Sunday, Toledo police mentioned that investigators are making headway with the leads they have. They have called upon festival attendees to share any photos or videos that might offer clues about the suspects involved.

Authorities rushed to the scene around 5:37 p.m. on Saturday following reports of gunfire near the popular Old West End Festival. This annual event sees hundreds gathering to enjoy live performances, food stalls, and home tours. Upon arrival, police found several individuals suffering from gunshot injuries.

As of Sunday, police reported that all 12 victims were in stable condition and showing signs of improvement. The victims’ ages range from 14 to 61, with the majority being in their early 20s.

During a news conference, Toledo Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan stated that the shooting likely involved at least two gunmen who appeared to be firing at one another.

Authorities have not released descriptions of any suspects or identified a possible motive.

Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates vowed that “justice will be swift and strong.”

“Those who were frightened, traumatized or harmed by this violence will remain at the forefront of our efforts,” Bates said in a statement. “I’ve felt outrage before, but this is personal. This is my home. These are my friends and neighbors. It is not OK.”
