Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta marries PBS reporter Liz Landers

Jim Acosta, formerly a prominent figure at CNN, has married Liz Landers of PBS NewsHour fame. The couple exchanged vows at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia, on a Sunday evening. Acosta, 55, shared the news with The Washingtonian, and glimpses of the celebration were posted on social media. Having maintained a low-profile romance, the two initially met at CNN several years ago, during Acosta’s tenure as the network’s chief White House correspondent.

Acosta Stands Firm, Plans Capri Honeymoon

Liz Landers began her journey at CNN as a freelance news assistant in 2013, later relocating to Washington in 2017 to serve as the network’s White House producer. A year later, she transitioned to a role as a Capitol Hill reporter. Acosta recounted to The Washingtonian that he was immediately struck by Landers’ determination as a journalist. The couple disclosed that they became engaged six months prior during a Hawaiian getaway. This engagement coincided with Acosta’s humorous appearance on Don Lemon’s New Year’s Eve webcast, where he sipped a tropical drink.

Acosta jokingly remarked that his Hawaiian retreat was an effort to escape Donald Trump as much as possible while still celebrating New Year’s within the United States. After declining a reshuffling that would have shifted his morning show to a midnight slot, Acosta departed CNN last year. His decision came shortly after Trump took office, and Acosta had famously declared on-air that he would not be subservient to a tyrant. As for their honeymoon, the newlyweds plan to spend it in the picturesque Capri. The couple was also spotted at a notable reception hosted by YouTube, Meridian International Center, and C-SPAN in April this year.

Acosta and Landers Celebrate with First Dance

Acosta has two children with his first wife, Sharon Mobley Stow, from whom he split in July 2017. Landers, 35, left CNN for Vice in April 2019. She was hired as a White House correspondent at PBS NewsHour in September 2025. She said her first impression of Acosta was ‘less serious and funnier in person than he was on TV.’ Acosta posted photos from the ceremony on Instagram. Multiple showed the couple sharing their first dance. Around 150 people were present for the ceremony.
