A Florida woman has admitted guilt in a case involving the alleged submersion of a child at a hotel pool.

Thirty-six-year-old Tiffany Griffith sidestepped a trial by pleading guilty to a child abuse charge linked to an incident that took place at a Kissimmee, Florida resort in late 2025. According to Law&Crime, the altercation happened at the pool of the Gaylord Palms resort on December 19, 2025. The situation began when Griffith’s son was reportedly involved in a heated splashing contest with another child. Authorities stated that Griffith entered the pool and forcefully submerged a 6-year-old boy after yelling at him.

Witnesses told the police that three children, including Griffith’s own 6-year-old son, were playing together in the pool when the splashing escalated. Griffith reportedly observed her son being dunked by the other child, prompting her to enter the pool. She allegedly shouted at the boy, grabbed his shoulders, and held him underwater for several seconds.

After the incident, Griffith allegedly shouted at the boy’s parents before leaving the pool area with her son. Police later apprehended her at the resort, charging her with aggravated child abuse. She spent five days in custody at the Osceola County Jail.

During her first court appearance, Griffith’s lawyer argued that she might not have been the cause of the nosebleed the boy experienced upon returning to his parents. The judge countered by asking, “So, you don’t think that placing both hands on his shoulders, forcibly submerging him underwater, and holding him underwater is sufficient?”

The attorney eventually conceded, saying, “I would withdraw my argument, I guess.”

According to court records reviewed by Law&Crime, Griffith pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse on June 3. She was sentenced to time served, 18 months of probation, and 50 hours of community service. She was also ordered to take anger management classes.
