Billionaire David Geffen, 83, has shock yacht reunion with ex, 33

In a surprising twist, billionaire David Geffen and his former spouse, David Armstrong, came together for a reunion in Spain, just two months after finalizing their much-publicized divorce. The meeting took place aboard Geffen’s opulent $400 million yacht, the Rising Sun, where the 83-year-old mogul was seen in high spirits alongside the 33-year-old Armstrong.

Their 2023 marriage drew significant attention, primarily due to the absence of a prenuptial agreement, a decision that raised eyebrows given Geffen’s estimated net worth of $8.7 billion. However, the union was short-lived, with Geffen filing for divorce in May 2025, citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’ He noted February 22, 2025, as the official date of their separation and mentioned that a settlement was achieved by April of the same year.

The legal proceedings were notably tense, stretching over a year. Armstrong accused Geffen of manipulating him through a “toxic mix of seduction, control, promises of love, and extravagant displays of wealth,” which he claimed led to a detrimental cycle of dependency and submission. Despite these serious allegations, the recent reunion suggests a thaw in their previously strained relationship.

The pair appeared to be on amicable terms, engaging in a seemingly heartfelt conversation before Armstrong took a moment to enjoy the scenic views from the deck in Mallorca. This unexpected gathering hints at a possible reconciliation or, at the very least, a move towards a more peaceful coexistence post-divorce.

Despite the pair’s court battle dragging on for a year with Armstrong accusing Geffen of using a ‘toxic mix of seduction, control, promises of love, and lavish displays of wealth to entrap’ him in ‘a cycle of dependency, submission, and humiliation’ – they now appear to be on great terms.

The Daily Mail has contacted Geffen and Armstrong for comment.

The sighting comes weeks after Geffen claimed he had reached a settlement with Armstrong in court documents.

However, the terms of the alleged settlement are being kept completely under wraps, although it is estimated to be millions.

Armstrong fired back at Geffen by filing a civil lawsuit against him in July 2025 for failing to provide ‘lifelong support’ amid their split.

Armstrong claimed in the filing that their split came after Geffen filed for divorce back in May and is ‘not about a mere personal falling out’.

Instead, he alleged the breakdown was about the systemic exploitation of a vulnerable, marginalized young gay black man by a wealthy, powerful white gay billionaire who believed himself untouchable’.

The mogul, 83, worth an estimated $8.7 billion, looked in good spirits as he chatted with David Armstrong (aka Donovan Michaels), 33, aboard his $400million yacht, Rising Sun

Armstrong alleged that Geffen ‘evicted’ him from their New York home before allegedly cutting off his financial support, as per the lawsuit.

‘In addition to evicting Michaels, Geffen also cut him off from his status quo financial support, making it impossible for Michaels to secure an appropriate living situation and provide for his daily necessities,’ the complaint states.

‘While Geffen holds himself out to the public as an extraordinarily charitable man whose foundation gives millions and millions of dollars to advocacy and support groups for the homeless and disadvantaged populations, he is simultaneously endeavoring to render Michaels impoverished and homeless.’

Among the more eyebrow-raising claims, Armstrong alleged Geffen forced him to have all his body hair lasered off and once flew into a rage over an ingrown hair.

However, Armstrong, who is represented by Justin Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman, made a shock move in October by dropping the bombshell lawsuit against Geffen.

In documents reviewed by the Daily Mail at the time, Freedman filed a motion to dismiss the suit without prejudice, meaning the case was being ended temporarily and that Armstrong could refile at a later date.

Much of the couple’s divorce battle has been over spousal support, with Armstrong claiming to be in dire financial straits.

In a November filing obtained by the Daily Mail, Armstrong claimed that the $50,000 a month in spousal support that Geffen was offering him at the time was too little.

He claimed that Geffen used to spend a whopping ‘$3m every month’ in living expenses while they were together, as per the legal docs.

He also alleged Geffen is trying to ‘aggressively limit’ his access to temporary and permanent spousal support.

Armstrong also objected to Geffen’s request that he only pay spousal support for a few more months, as per the filing – to which Geffen quickly responded via his legal team.

Armstrong claimed that Geffen said he’s now retired but still works as a ‘venture capitalist, high-level investor, and power broker.’

In Armstrong’s legal filing, it was claimed Geffen ‘solicited Donovan when he was a vulnerable young foster care graduate and thereafter perpetrated physical, emotional, and psychological harm on him.’

Geffen replied to his boytoy ex’s filing via his legal team led by Laura Wasser.

Geffen argued that he already gave Armstrong $400,000 since their separation and has been allowing him to stay rent-free at his $15,000-per-month New York City apartment.

At the time, Geffen said he was working hard to settle their divorce and dissolve their marriage as he accused his ex of seeking to delay a resolution of their split.

Geffen had also been accused in October of hiding his finances to avoid paying his ex-spouse any more spousal support.

Armstrong’s lawyer Freedman told TMZ they would ‘seek to resolve the financial conflicts in mediation.’

Documents filed on October 31 showed that Armstrong listed a total of just $7,518 in cash and savings.

He did not list any of the support he has allegedly received from Geffen since they were separated or during their 23-month marriage.

The income and expense declaration stated that Armstrong ‘receives funds’ from Geffen, although ‘the nature of which in total amount is unknown’.

The billionaire mogul’s attorneys said he has done everything possible to resolve the spousal support issue.

In a signed declaration, Geffen said: ‘While I have continued to support Donovan and I have made every effort to reach a global settlement in this matter, Donovan and his legal team have not participated in good faith.’

Geffen’s attorneys said the billionaire paid at least $500,000 to Armstrong since their separation, as well as $50,000 toward his former beau’s legal fees.

Among Geffen’s claims, he alleged to have paid $198,450 for Armstrong to stay at a ‘private ultra luxury drug rehabilitation center’ for ‘as long as he wanted.’

Armstrong had been receiving $25,000 per month since June of this year, Geffen declared.

Geffen and Armstrong reportedly tied the knot quietly in Beverly Hills in 2023 nearly a decade after meeting.

Just weeks later, the pair were spotted stepping off a Manhattan helipad, with Geffen flashing a gold wedding band – the first public clue the mogul had made it official with his much-younger beau.

Armstrong’s career has consisted of stringing together odd-jobs while socializing in NYC modeling circles, sources previously told The New York Post.

Armstrong was not Geffen’s first age gap romance.

In 2012, when he was 69, he split from Jeremy Lingvall, who was 41 at the time, after six years together.

In 2012 the music mogul also dated 20-year-old former college football player Jamie Kuntz, and at one point filed a restraining order against him.

Earlier in his storied career, Geffen founded Asylum records, which signed musical sensations like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and the Eagles.

He later founded Geffen records, which went on to release the work of artists including Elton John, Cher, Aerosmith, Blink-182, Guns N’ Roses, and Nirvana.

Along with Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg, Geffen co-founded DreamWorks in the 1990s.
