In the Bahamas, authorities have detained five U.S. cruise ship passengers following allegations of assaulting police officers and resisting arrest within the Caribbean nation.
According to a police statement released on Tuesday, the group—comprising three women and two men—was involved in a confrontation with other cruise passengers at the port in Nassau, the Bahamian capital.
The altercation took place on Monday night.
Police reported that once the suspects were brought to the station for a search, a “violent struggle” broke out.
One of the women allegedly hurled a chair through a glass door, causing it to shatter.
Subsequently, a man reportedly kicked out the remaining glass in an attempt to flee, as detailed in the police statement.
Four police officers were injured, including one who was seriously injured in his left shoulder and was taken to the hospital, authorities said.

The five suspects remain in custody, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
