At least one person was killed and several others were hurt during an active shooting in downtown Midland, Texas, on Friday, according to Midland Mayor Lori Blong, who said during a press briefing that the suspect had barricaded themselves inside a building.
Blong said the shooting left a total of 11 victims.
The FBI has been notified of the incident, and agents from the bureau’s Midland satellite office are assisting at the scene, a source told News Agency.
Midland Memorial Hospital said it received nine patients connected to the shooting. Hospital officials said four were taken into surgery, while five were listed in stable condition. The hospital’s main campus was placed on lockdown for nearly two hours, and its emergency department remains secured.
