Police and law enforcement sources said a young man was fatally stabbed by a violent group inside a waterfront park in Queens late Thursday night.
The victim, who had not been identified as of Friday and is believed to be between 18 and 25 years old, was stabbed in the back during a confrontation involving more than 10 people at Little Bay Park in Whitestone at about 8:30 p.m., according to authorities and sources.
He was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital and was initially reported in critical condition, but later died from his injuries, police said.
Sources said the suspects fled on scooters or mopeds, and no arrests had been made by Friday.
Council Member Vickie Paladino, who represents the neighborhood, denounced the attack.
“This is EXTREMELY rare for Whitestone and does not bode well for what we can expect this summer,” Paladino wrote in a Facebook post.
The violence came less than two months after a 15-year-old boy was beaten and fatally shot by a ruthless mob inside another Queens park, cops said.
Jaden Pierre was killed April 16 inside Roy Wilkins Park in St. Albans – marking a bloody end to a social media-hyped water gun fight that the young victim had organized, according to police.
Five teens have been arrested in that case, authorities said.
